Drexel Proves Too Much for Siena

The Siena College women's lacrosse team fell to Drexel University, 20-5, this afternoon at Drexel Field in Philadelphia. Pa. With the loss the Saints drop to 2-5 on the season.

Drexel opened up the scoring by netting the first three goals of game, including two quick tallies just 13 seconds apart, before Stephanie Petruccelli scored her first of two on the afternoon at the 25:19 mark to make the score 3-1. The two teams then traded goals for a 4-2 score with 22:37 on the clock before the Dragons put away five unanswered goals to increase their lead to seven. The Saints managed only two more goals in the first, one courtesy of Petruccelli and one by Caitlin Doherty, while Drexel found the back of the net four more times, giving the Dragons the 13-4 lead at the half.

Siena scored just once in the final 30 minutes of play and Drexel walked away with the 20-5 victory after finding the back of the net an additional seven times.

Petruccelli and Doherty each scored two goals while Karla Gudgel had the final goal of the afternoon and finished with one tally.

The Saints will next host conference foe Le Moyne this Saturday at Siena Field.
