LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Leading the way with 21 of 23 draw controls, Dartmouth drew a 16-6 win over Siena Women's Lacrosse. This is just the second meeting between the non-conference foes, and first since 2010.
Courtney Weisse led all scorers with five goals for Dartmouth (5-3). Elizabeth Mastrio recorded four goals of her own for the Big Green. Kathryn Giroux tallied 12 of Dartmouth's 21 draw controls.
Dartmouth started off fast taking a quick 7-0 lead with just under 10 minutes off the clock. Michelle Schwartz and Alexis Deaken then scored back-to-back goals to trail just 7-2. At the end of the first half the Big Green led Siena 8-3.
The Big Green got things going again to start the second half as they scored six goals to start the stanza. Deaken ended the scoring drought for the Saints with 5:48 left in the half and Siena trailed 14-4. Sirianni and Deaken then both scored free position goals and the Saints trailed 14-6. The Big Green would add two more and take the game 16-6.
Sammy Horton tallied eight saves in the cage. Deaken led all players with three caused turnovers.
The Saints head to Buffalo, New York to take on MAAC foe Canisius on Wednesday, Apr. 5. First draw is set for 4 p.m.
