South Burlington, VT.--Senior Vanessa Cox and sophomore Becky Kenison scored four goals each to lead the University of Vermont past visiting Siena, 15-6, in women's lacrosse action at South Burlington High School on Wednesday afternoon. It was the Catamounts first win of the year in their home opener and first-year head coach Jennifer Johnson picked up her first career victory.

Vermont scored five straight goals to open a 5-0 lead with just over 18 minutes left in the first half. Siena broke the shutout on a tally by Lynn Harkins at the 14:36 mark of the first stanza. The Catamounts would add three more and took a 9-2 lead at the break.

The Saints scored two of the first three goals of the second half to cut the lead to 10-4 with over 22 minutes remaining in the action. The Catamounts closed the game scoring five of the final seven goals in the game.

Siena was led by MAAC preseason player of the year, Michelle Eide with three goals. Lynn Harkins, Tammy Vitolins and Amy Schoonmaker rounded out the Saints offense each with one goal.

Bethany Zimmer came up with 17 saves in the Saints' loss, matching her season high.

Siena falls to 0-2 on the season and face Long Island University in their home opener at Union College in Schenectady on Sunday. Game time is scheduled for 12 noon.
