LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Sarah Croutier and Erin Mossop both notched hat tricks as Siena Women's Lacrosse earned its first victory of the year, 12-8 over Wagner at Siena Turf Field. The win marked the first collegiate coaching victory for new Siena Head Coach Melissa Pearsall.
Siena (1-2) scored the final four goals of the first half to take its first lead, 6-5 at the break, and never trailed again. Harboring an 8-7 lead late in the second half, the Saints went on another four-goal run to put it away.
Croutier scored twice during the decisive run including the game-winner. Both she and Mossop also picked up four groundballs apiece.
Despite committing 24 turnovers, Siena controlled possession thanks in large part to a commanding 17-6 edge in draw controls. Lauren Smith won six (and also caused three turnovers) and Julia Sirianni added five.
Jessica Mills posted a hat trick in leading Wagner (1-2), while Shea Gegan led all scorers with a goal and three assists.
Alyssa Treanor added two goals for the Saints which received goals from seven different players. Freshman goalie Samantha DePasquale more than did her job on the defensive end, registering a career-high 14 saves.
