Siena Women’s Lacrosse fell 17-10 at Vermont in a midweek contest. Sophomore Alexis Deaken recorded five goals in the contest.
Deaken’s five goals tied her career-record of goals scored in a game. Kerry Gerety tallied her first hat-trick with three goals on seven shots. Julia Sardella and Kiera Young each added a goal for Siena (0-2).
Elise Koehl led Vermont (2-2) with eight goals off of 10 shots. Six other Catamounts scored in the victory.
Vermont jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead within the first four minutes of play. Gerety picked up her first goal of the game to put the Saints on the board. The Catamounts would continue to hold the advantage, but Gerety put up her second goal, while Deaken tallied her first of the game off a free-position shot, but it would not be enough as Vermont jumped out to a 10-3 lead at half.
The Saints scored the first three goals of the second half and trailed just 10-6, but Vermont would respond and tally three of their own. Deaken tallied back-to-back goals for the Saints midway through the final frame keeping the Saints within striking distance as they trailed 13-8. Both teams scored one more to put Vermont up 14-8, but the Catamounts would end the game as they started by tallying the final four goals.
The Saints will travel to face Army West Point on Saturday, March 3 at 1 p.m.
