Melissa Pearsall was named the fifth head coach in Siena Women's Lacrosse history on September 4, 2013. The Cortland, N.Y. native joins the Saints following a three-year stint as the defensive coordinator and recruiting coordinator at Colgate University.

"We are pleased to have Melissa as our head coach," said Director of Athletics John D'Argenio. "She brings a great knowledge of lacrosse from different levels to our program, understanding the recruiting process well and will be a very good teacher and mentor to our student athletes."

In Pearsall's first season at Colgate in 2011, she helped guide the Raiders to the Patriot League Regular Season Championship. She coached and mentored the 2012 Colgate University Female Athlete of the Year and Patriot League Midfielder of the Year and 2011 Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year. During her tenure five Raiders earned First Team All-Patriot League honors while two were named to the Second Team.

"I'd like to thank John D'Argenio and Siena College for this great opportunity to work with the women's lacrosse program," said Pearsall. "I'm excited to inherit a team that has shown improvement the last few years and look forward to taking the Saints to the next level."

Pearsall joined Colgate following a three-year appointment as an assistant coach at the Rochester Institute of Technology. The 2009 IWLCA Division III National Outstanding Assistant Coach, she helped turn around a one-win program into a team that posted a program record 13 wins that season. Pearsall served as defensive coordinator and oversaw the development of the 2009 Empire 8 Goalkeeper of the Year and an IWLCA Second Team honoree. The Tigers' defense ranked ninth in Division III in goals against average.

In addition to her duties as an assistant coach at RIT, Pearsall was the administrative director and head coach of the modified girls' club team with Relentless Hustle Lacrosse Club in Rochester. She helped start the team and made it into a nationally-recognized program. The team has had multiple student athletes commit to Division I programs.

Pearsall appeared in 63 games making 35 starts as a defensive midfielder at Syracuse from 2004-07. She totaled 81 groundballs and was a key contributor on the 2005 and 2007 teams that advanced to the NCAA Tournament.

A 2007 graduate of Syracuse University with a B.A. in Psychology, Pearsall also holds a Master's and Certificate of Advanced Studies in School Psychology from Roberts Wesleyan College.
