Amanda Best enters her second season as an assistant women's lacrosse coach at Siena College. A native of nearby Schenectady, N.Y., Best was a four-year standout at Fairfield University.
"Amanda has a passion for the game that is infectious and will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to our attackers," said then head coach Melissa Pearsall upon her appointment. "I am excited for her to help our student athletes achieve their goals this upcoming season and she is a welcomed addition to our staff."
Best, who played locally at Guilderland High, was named an All-American Honorable mention in 2009 after leading the Dutchmen to the Section II Championship and an NYS Regional Title.
At Fairfield, Best was named a First Team All-MAAC selection last spring after amassing 31 points and picking up 32 groundballs. An attacker and midfielder, Best appeared in 71 collegiate games with the Stags making 64 starts. She totaled 123 points on 90 goals and 33 assists, added 91 groundballs and was a three-time MAAC All-Academic Team selection.
Best graduated from Fairfield in 2013 with a 3.68 GPA and a degree in Psychology and minor in Communications. As a member of Fairfield's Student Athlete Advisory Committee, she organized the department's first student athlete talent show.
