Loudonville, N.Y. - The Siena men's and women's golf teams got together Sunday at Shaker Ridge Country Club for the second annual Turchi Cup in honor of friends of Siena Athletics Gino and Willie Turchi. Both teams finished the 18-hole competition all square earning 4.5 points each. As a result, the upperclassmen retained the trophy for the second straight season.
The underclassmen had built a commanding 4-1 lead before the upperclassmen roared back to even the score at 4-4. One the final grouping on the 18th hole, Nick Miller, representing the underclassmen squad, forced upperclassmen representative Catherine Shomo to hole a dramatic 12-foot putt to earn the tie and thus retain the trophy for the upperclassmen.
