Shomo, Mannix and Cahill Named All-American Scholars

Siena women's golfers Catherine Shomo, Katelynn Mannix and Megan Cahill were all named 2009-10 National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) All-American Scholars Monday afternoon. Student-athletes must have a 3.5 cumulative GPA and compete in at least 50% of the team's regularly scheduled rounds during the year. In total, 494 golfers across Divisions I, II and III were recognized. Shomo and Mannix have both been named All-American Scholars in each of their first three years at Siena. Shomo has a 3.79 GPA in accounting. She shot a team-best 232 (80, 73, 79) at the 2010 MAAC Championships and finished second overall. Shomo was named MAAC Golfer of the Month this April, recording a pair of top-five finishes. Mannix has a 3.96 GPA in biochemistry. She had five top-10 results this past year and finished 10th overall at the MAAC Championships with a 246 (82, 79, 85). Cahill has a 3.7 GPA in English. In just her second collegiate event, she finished second on the team and tied for 37th at the Dartmouth Women's Invitational. Cahill rebounded from an opening round 94 at the MAAC Championships and posted an 82 and 85 to finish 22nd overall. Siena won its 10th consecutive MAAC Championship this spring.
