Women's Golf's Fletcher, Nelson Named Scholar All-Americans

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Rising Siena Women's Golf seniors Mary Fletcher and Katie Nelson have been named Scholar All-Americans by the Women's Golf Coaches Association. The duo received recognition for meeting the stringent criteria of maintaining a 3.50 or better cumulative GPA at the conclusion of the 2013-14 season.

A total of 664 women's golfers across the Division I, II and III levels were named WGCA Scholar All-Americans. This marks the third straight year that both Fletcher and Nelson have been recipients of the award.

A native of Fayetteville, N.Y., Fletcher competed in six events during the 2013-14 season for the Saints. She shot a season-best low round of 73 at the Bucknell Invitational during the fall and tied for ninth overall in the Saints' ECAC Championships victory. A biology major, Fletcher currently possesses a 3.54 cumulative GPA.

Nelson competed in eight of the Saints' 11 events last season including the Saints' victorious ECAC Championships and MAAC Championship squads as well as in the NCAA Regional. The Auburn, Mass. product finished sixth overall at the MAAC Championships as the Saints captured the program's 13th title in the past 14 years. Nelson holds a 3.87 cumulative GPA as a management major and posted a perfect 4.0 GPA during the spring semester.
