The Siena men’s and women’s teams both started play at the Lehigh Invitation on Saturday at the Saucon Valley Grace Course.  Unfortunately, both teams struggled during the first day, both finishing towards the bottom of the standings.

The women’s squad currently sits eighth in the eight team field.  The best round for the Saints belonged to Kylie Strijek who shot a score of +4 in the first round and stands tied for fifth overall.  She trails individual leader Kortnie Maxoutopouli by just three strokes.

Coming off a near individual championship performance in the RMU Classic, Victoria Nguyen totaled a score of 79 in the par-72 course.  Nguyen will enter the final day tied for 19th overall.

The women stand just three strokes behind Georgetown for seventh and are 20 shots behind tournament leader Rutgers University.

The men were led by Jess Esposito who finished with a score of even par after day one, only four shots behind tournament leader Michael Kania of Villanova University.

Riley McGraw also had a strong first round as he totaled a score of 78.  He currently sits tied for 22nd out of the 45 player field.

Siena is currently tied for sixth in the eight team field.  They trail Bucknell by two strokes for a top-five position.  Everyone is currently chasing Villanova who shot a total of 284, nearly 30 shots better than Siena.

Both squads will finish up play on Sunday with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m.
