Rutgers Final Results
Junior tri-captain Catherine Shomo finished tied for ninth overall, leading the Siena women's golf team to eighth place at the Rutgers Invitational completed Saturday afternoon in Piscataway, N.J. The Saints shot a 36-hole score of 652 to place in the top half of the 18-team field.
Boston College overcame a four-stroke deficit on Friday to win the invitational by six shots over second place St. John's, with host Rutgers finishing third. The Scarlet Knights Jeanne Waters won the individual championship in a playoff over Fairleigh Dickinson's Michele Holzwarth.
Shomo shot a 79 on Saturday to finish with a score of 156 over the two rounds, which was just seven strokes off the lead. Fellow junior captain Katelynn Mannix rebounded from a tough first round to shoot a team-best 78 in the final round to finish second amongst Siena competitors.
The Saints return to action Saturday for the Kelly Gutshall Invitational in Bethlehem, Pa.
