The Siena women's golf team swept the ECAC Championship at Twisted Dune Golf Club in Egg Harbor Township, N.J. on Monday afternoon to win their first ECAC Championship. Senior captain Kylie Strijek(79, 73, 152) medals as the top finisher in the two-day Tournament.
"We were very happy to pull out a win on a difficult golf course," said David Wronowski. "The girls have put together a very good fall season so far and we're excited to continue the momentum at St. John's next weekend." Coach continued, "Additionally, I was thrilled to see Kylie pull out the win at a tournament she has been pointing towards."
For the second straight year, Strijek was the top finisher for the Saints at the ECAC Championships. She finished last year in fifth place. The Saints, as a team, also finished last year in fifth place.
Junior Victoria Nguyen (81, 76, 157) finished five strokes behind Strijek for second place. Valeria Wijaya and Mary Fletcherfinished the Tournament inside the top-10 for the Saints.
Wijaya finished in sixth place after shooting an 83 on day two. Mary Fletcher advanced six places to finish the Tournament tied for ninth, shooting a final round 81. Rounding out the Championship roster was junior Katie Nelson. Nelson finished in fourteenth place to finish all five Saints inside the top-15.
The Saints defeated the second place UAlbany Great Danes by 17 strokes.
The Saints return to action again on October 7-8 when they travel to East Meadow, N.J. for the St. John's Women's Intercollegiate Tournament.
