Siena women's golf finished in 24th place at the NCAA Central Regional Saturday. It was the first-ever trip to an NCAA Regional for the Green and Gold, and individual MAAC Champion Victoria Nguyen paced the Saints by tying for 50th.
"This team has a lot to be proud of," said Siena head coach Dave Wronowski. "We are a young group, and I know we'll work hard to get back to this point next year. Overall, this was a great learning experience to build upon."
Nguyen followed up consecutive rounds of 79 with a 76 on Saturday. Her three-day total of 234 was 21 shots behind individual leaders Lisa McCloskey of USC and Maria Salinas of Florida State. Next best for the Saints was sophomore Kylie Strijek, who tied for 64th in the 126-person field after a second straight round of 80.
The top eight teams and top two individuals from a non-qualifying team advanced to the NCAA Championships, which begin on May 22 in Franklin, Tenn. This was the first year that the MAAC Champion received an automatic bid to an NCAA Regional.
