Siena women's golf remained in 23rd after the conclusion of Friday's second round at the NCAA Central Regional in Columbus, Ohio. Sophomore Kylie Strijek signed for a second-round 80, and is tied for 47th entering Saturday's third and final round.
"It was a great start for the team, but unfortunately we made some unforced errors on the back nine," said Siena head coach Dave Wronowski. "Overall, we played well and we're really looking forward to tomorrow."
Victoria Nguyen shot her second consecutive 79 Friday, and is tied for 61st in the 126-player field. The other main highlight of the day was produced by Mary Fletcher, who eagled the par-4 ninth hole by draining her second shot from the fairway.
The Saints improved their team score by two shots from Thursday's first round, but are well behind team leader USC, who extended their lead to 12 strokes over Vanderbilt. USC's Lisa McCloskey leads the individual standings by two shots after a second-round 68.
Play concludes at the Central Regional on Saturday.
