Siena Women's Golf Captures Third Consecutive MAAC Championship

The Siena College women's golf team rallied from a three-stroke deficit to capture the 2003 MAAC Championships at Magnolin Golf Course in Walt Disney World Sunday afternoon. The Saints defeated rival Fairfield by nine strokes (665-674) to claim the crown. The men's golf team earned a third place finish in the 10-team MAAC.

Pacing the Saints was the quintet of Stephanie Reeves (86-78), Jillian Blanchard (82-82), Bridgette Palin (86-82), Shawna Carroll (86-83) and Rachel Scalzo (93-96). Reeves, the defending MAAC Individual Champion and Blanchard were edged by Fairfield's Allie Schick (77-82) for the individual title.

Robby Bigby (73-78-76) grabbed sixth place to pace the Siena men, which continued their ascension up the MAAC ladder with a third place showing. Jim Ohlsen (83-78-73), Luke Esposito (84-78-76), Brett Bushinger (82-77-80) and Mark Thornhill (82-76-80) rounded out the Siena five.
