Saints Women Golfers Hold On To Lead

ORLANDO, FL--After a five stroke lead in day one of the 2005JetBlue Airways Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Women's Golf Championship, the Siena women's golf team (659) has a commanded 19 stroke lead over Fairfield (678) after day two of the tournament at the Magnolia Golf Course at Walt Disney. The Saints shot a team score of 329 after round two of the 54-hole tournament. Fairfield finished the second round in second place with a score of 343, giving them a two-day total of 678. Saints freshmen Melissa Agostinelli (Rochester, NY) lead all scorers after round two, with a two-day score of 156. Fairfield's Liz McCabe finished close behind with 164 points and teammate Allison and Saints Jillian Blanchard (North Dartmouth, Mass.) finished with 66 points, tied for third place. Sophomore Laura Woolgar (Pearl River, N.Y.) moved up two notches on the leader board after carding an 83 for a score of 167 (+23). Freshman Bridget Erwin (Syracuse, NY) is three strokes behind Woolgar with 170. Sophomore Megan Angis (Saco, Maine) rounded out the Saints five player roster maintaining the eighth spot (88). Championship play resume tomorrow with a 7:42 a.m. tee-off.
