Siena Golf Finishes Third Place at Hartford Invitational

WEST HARTFORD, CT- The Siena women's golf team finished third at the Hartford Invitational. Host University of Hartford team finished second to St. John's University this afternoon at Wampanoag Country Club. The Saints shot 698 as a team for the tournament to best the field of 13 teams. Hofstra University's Caitlin Munroe took medalist honors by one stroke over Long Island University's Shauna Wilde. Munroe fired back-to-back rounds of 82 to finish at 164 for the tournament. Hartford finished six shots ahead of the Saints at 692. Siena (698), Long Island (702) and Lehigh University (706) rounded out the top five-team scores. Junior Jillian Blanchard (North Dartmouth, Mass./Dartmouth HS) led the Saints with a 166 for the tournament, finishing third overall. She shot 83 on both days, the lowest round for a Siena golfer at the event. Freshman Bridget Erwin (Syracuse NY/Syracuse CBA) shaved six strokes off her Monday score of 90 to finish with a final-round 84. She tied 18th overall at 174. Sophomore Laura Woolgar (Pearl River, NY/Pearl River) dropped 12 spots from day one competition with an 85 and 92 on day two to finish tied for 23rd. Freshman Melissa Agostinelli carded a 94, which dropped her to 40th place in the 66-golfer tournament. She finished overall with a two-round total of 185. Sophomore Samantha Rossi (Schenectady, NY/Colonie) tied for 50th place (189) to round out Siena's scoring. Siena will next compete at the MAAC Championship on April 21-23 in Orlando, Fl.
