The inaugural Pirate Invitational hosted by Seton Hall is in the books. The women’s golf team finished the Tournament tied for 14th, shooting a combined 693. Victoria Nguyen played a consistent two rounds, shooting an 84 for a combined 166, good for 35th place.

The winds calmed down for the second round, allowing the Saints to settle in and produce lower scores from yesterday.

Two Saints improved on their opening round scores by six strokes. Kristen Bromley was one who lowered her second round score, recording an 86, for a total of 178. Valerie Wijaya shot a second round 85 for a total 176. Wijaya tied for 61st place with teammate Mary Fletcher.

Fletcher improved by four strokes, shooting an 86 in the second round and finished with a 176.

Katie Nelson could not have been more consistent. Nelson finished with a combined 178 after shooting an 89 in both rounds.

Columbia won the team award, finishing first with a 631, one stroke ahead of Yale. Columbia's Michelle Piyapattra defeated St. John's Anna Kim on the second playoff hole to win the 2014 Pirate Invitational Individual Championship.

Up next for the Saints is the final match of the spring when they travel to Barrington, R.I. for the Brown Invitational (4/13-14) before heading to the MAAC Championships in Orlando, Fla. on April 25-27.
