Seven Saints Earn All-Academic Honors

The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) announced the 2013 Field Hockey All-Academic team today. Seven members of the Siena field hockey team earned All-Academic Honors.

To be eligible for the MAAC All-Academic Team, a student athlete must complete two semesters at their institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a 4.0 scale.

Cory dela Gorgendiere (Business) and Jessica Smith (Accounting) led the list of seven Saints on the honors list. Smith and dela Gorgendiere were honored at Senior Day last Sunday before their last game as a Saint.

Megan Bohse (Psychology), Katherine Bowie (Religious Studies) and Theresa Tremblay (Economics) were also named to the MAAC All-Academic team for their success in the classroom during their junior season.

Rounding out the Siena All-Academic team for the Saints were sophomores Kate Gillespie (Chemistry) and Katie Wells (Biology).

A total of 60 student-athletes comprised the 2013 MAAC Field Hockey All-Academic Team. Quinnipiac University and Robert Morris University led all MAAC schools with 13 student-athletes. Rider University was a close second with 10 while Sacred Heart University added 9 while Bryant University and Monmouth University round out our list by each adding 4.
