Sophomore defender Jaycie St. John and freshman goalkeeper Mary Crumlish were named to the All MAAC Second Team as announced by the conference Thursday night. Eight Saints were also recognized as members of the MAAC All-Academic Team.
St. John started all 14 games for the Saints’ defense. The sophomore tallied two goals and one assist this season. She also tied for the team lead with two defensive saves.
Crumlish had a strong rookie campaign in net for Siena. The goalkeeper recorded 132 saves, with a 3.76 goals against average, starting in all 14 games for the Saints. Crumlish’s 9.43 saves per game currently ranks third in the NCAA for this season.
The Saints also had eight players named to the 2016 MAAC All-Academic Team. Seniors Danielle DeGroot, Maggie Liguori, Brittany Onesto and Cailyn Rafi, junior Molly Hagen, and sophomores Aubrie Bleier, Katelyn McMahon, Nicole Miller were recognized by the MAAC academically for achieving a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a 4.0 scale in at least two semesters at the same institution.
The Saints will return two of their top four scorers next season, Fariyah Omarshah and Bleier, from a team who scored their most goals in a season since 2009. Siena finished the season fifth in the MAAC.
