LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Set to enter the program's first season in the inaugural MAAC Field Hockey League, Siena was selected to finish seventh in the preseason coaches' poll. Senior goalie Beth Meyers was named to the Preseason All-MAAC Team.

Rider, the three-time defending champion of the Northeast Conference which had seven of its field hockey programs absorbed by the MAAC, was selected to win the league. The Broncs received 44 votes followed closely by Quinnipiac (43) and Monmouth (37). Associate members Robert Morris (25), Sacred Heart (20) and Bryant (18) followed in the polling, with Siena receiving nine votes.

A local product from nearby Guilderland, N.Y., Meyers led the nation and broke Siena's single season program record with 231 saves during the 2011 season. Last season she stopped 156 shots and ranked third nationally in saves per game (10.4).

Siena went 0-15 overall last season and posted an 0-7 mark in their final season in the Northeast Conference. Second-year head coach Kara Zappone and the Saints open their 2013 season Sept. 1 at Holy Cross.
