LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Siena field hockey head coach Bill Davidson has announced his captains for the 2009 season. Seniors Andrea Caso, Caroline Hunnewell and Kristin McGorty will look to lead the Saints on the field as tri-captains this fall.
"Andrea, Caroline and Kristin have provided our team with strong leadership skills throughout our spring season," notes assistant head coach Kaitlyn Skelley. "We are confident they will continue to bring intensity, heart and pride to the Siena Field Hockey program as they gear up for their senior season. They understand what it means to work hard on and off of the field and they are positive role models for our team."
A native of Carmel, N.Y., Caso started all 17 games as a junior last season and ranked second on the team with 18 shots. She has played in all 45 games since coming to Loudonville three years ago, starting 39 and tied for the team scoring lead as a sophomore.
Hunnewell, a 5'3" defender from Lebanon, N.H. also started all 17 games last year, anchoring the Saints' back line. She scored the team's game-winning goal in a thrilling double-overtime victory over Monmouth.
McGorty, who hails from Wappingers Falls, N.Y., has been one of the team's top offensive threats over the past three seasons. Last year she started all 17 games at midfield and led the team in shots, while finishing second in scoring.
The Saints open the 2009 season in less than four months with an announcement on the complete schedule and incoming freshman class coming in the near future.
