Field Hockey Earns NFHCA Awards

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Siena Field Hockey was named to the Zag Field Hockey/National FIeld Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division I National Academic Team. The Saints had seven named to the Academic Squad, and one Scholar of Distinction.

The team was recognized for the National Academic Team Award by achieving a minimum team grade-point average of 3.0 during the first semester of the 2016-17 academic year.

Seven Saints were also named to the 2017 Zag Field Hockey/ NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad. The National Academic Squad recognizes those student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher through the first semester of the 2016-17 academic year.

Seniors Danielle DeGroot, Maggie Liguori and Brittany Onesto were joined junior Molly Hagen and sophomores Aubrie Bleier, Katelyn McMahon and freshman Brianna Muniz.

The Saints also boasted one Scholar of Distinction in Katelyn McMahon for the second year in a row. In order to be named a Scholar of Distinction, the student athlete must have a cumulative GPA of 3.9 or higher through the first semester.
