The field hockey honored their senior class on Sunday afternoon prior to their game against Quinnipiac. The Saints played hard but couldn't find the goal and falling to the Bobcats 3-0.
Jessica Smith, Cory dela Gorgendiere, Lindsay Mayo, Michaela Sullivan nd Beth Meyers were honored the five members of the senior class during the pregame ceremony where they were presented with a framed photo.
The Saints played well today, gaining momentum towards the end of the first half. They were unable to capitalize on several scoring opportunities in front of the Bobcats' net. Katherine Bowie was active on both ends of the field, recording three shots. Kate Gillespie also earned two shots on the day, nearly scoring on a shot wide.
Senior Beth Meyers had seven saves, to end her career as the All-Time Saves leaders for the Siena field hockey program with 557 saves.
Jess Rusin led the Bobcats offensively scoring twice. Rusin's first goal came in the first half when she received a pass from Taylor for an open shot and goal. Rusin's second goal came towards the end of the game scoring on a pass from Dietrichs.
The Saints end their season and will enter the off-season with their new determination to continue to build a winning program. The Saints ended the historic losing streak last Friday after defeating Sacred Heart 2-0. The Saints are looking forward to working hard and plan on coming back next year to challenge the MAAC top teams.
