LOUDONVILLE, NY-- Siena Field Hockey won in an overtime thriller on Senior Day against MAAC opponent Bryant this afternoon. Saints freshman forward Stephanie Hand scored her 6th goal of the season to lift Siena in OT over Bryant, 4-3.
Starting off early in the fourth minute, Bryant's (3-16, 1-5) Ally Burdick scored off of a penalty corner to deflect the shot into the goal.
Just seven minutes and 36 seconds later Bryant's Floor Van Dommelen scored off a corner quickly making it a 2-0 game over the Saints (1-16, 1-5).
Within 44 seconds Siena would respond again as freshman forward Margaret Conway grabs a rebound off Bryant's goalie Lyndsay Swanston and taps in the second goal for the Saints making it two all with 22 minutes remaining in the half.
Saints and Bulldogs would remain tied at two heading into the second half. 11 minutes in, Conway passes the ball in from in front of the goal to junior forward Fariyah Omarshah who taps the ball into the right side of the goal past Swanston to give Siena the lead 3-2.
Bulldogs Freya Ward would score through defenders just over two minutes later with a long ball just inside the arc to tie the game once again at 3.
Saints and bulldogs would be neck and neck through the rest of regulation, resulting in an overtime period.
Both teams would start off taking one shot each in overtime, until Hand broke away on her own going one on one against Bryant's Swanston, who was out past the arc. Swanston would attempt to kick the ball away from Hand, but would miss. Hand would then make her way past Swanston inside the arc and shoot a long ball into the top left corner of the goal to net the golden goal, giving Siena a win in their final game of the season.
