Siena Field Hockey fell to MAAC rival Fairfield in Connecticut on Friday afternoon, 4-0. Sophomore goalie Mary Crumlish recorded 18 saves for the Saints.
Siena (0-16, 0-5) junior forward Fariyah Omarshah would attempt the first shot of the game nearly three minutes in. However, the Stags (7-10, 4-1) would answer back as Andrea Soler would score in the 16th minute and again in the 31st minute to take the 2-0 advantage heading into the half.
Just under five minutes into the second half, Fairfield would get on the board again as Jamie Appelberg would tap in a goal. And just 4 minutes and 48 seconds later Jaclyn Gallagher would net a goal for the Stags to make it 4-0 with 15 minutes and 15 seconds remaining in the second half.
Senior midfielder Molly Hagen would attempt a penalty stroke with under 3 minutes left in regulation, but sadly Fairfield goalie Caitlin Gilligan would save the shot to keep the Saints scoreless in Fairfield.
Siena returns back home this Sunday, October 29th, as they host Bryant University for Senior Day at Siena Turf Field in Loudonville, NY at 1 p.m.
