Siena field hockey fell 4-0 at Sacred Heart Sunday in the team's final road game of the 2011 season. The Saints were outshot 19-4 by the Pioneers, and did not record a single look in the second half of play.
The Saints (0-17, 0-6 NEC) fell behind early, allowing a goal in the ninth minute. The Pioneers (6-11, 3-3 NEC) would strike twice more in the first half in a four-minute span before another insurance goal in the 55th minute to complete the scoring. Sacred Heart's Sarah Bergman had three assists in the win, while Kim Stow stopped all four shots on goal en route to a shutout win.
Sophomore goalkeeper Beth Meyers inched closer to Siena's single-season record for saves, stopping eight shots. She's now two away from the mark of 215 set by Renee Clavette '10 with one game to go.
The Saints will complete the 2011 season next Sunday against Bryant at Siena Turf Field, and the program will honor its class of 2012 in a pre-game Senior Day ceremony.
