LOUDONVILLE, NY-- Siena Field Hockey fell to top ranked MAAC opponent Monmouth this afternoon 9-1. Hawks Tamar Klinkhammer and Kelly Hanna scored a total of five goals to help lead their team past the Saints. Freshman forward Stephanie Hand scored the lone goal for Siena, her second goal in the last three games and fifth of the season. Sophomore goalie Mary Crumlish recorded eight saves for the Saints.
Tamar Klinkhammer started the game off at 8:37 with Monmouth's (12-3, 3-1) first goal of the game, she followed up with another goal four minutes later to put the Hawks up 2-0 over Siena (0-15, 0-4).
Elyssa Okken scored next for the Hawks in the 20th minute, followed by Hanna in the 28th minute to put Monmouth up 4-0 entering the half.
Five minutes into the second half (`40) Mallory Kusakavitch nets a goal to extend the Hawks lead followed by goals from Rachel Konowal (`42) and Hanna (`43) to tack on two more goals and extend Monmouth's lead to 8-0 over the Saints.
In the 52nd minute, freshman midfielder/forward Jessica Hewitt passes the ball forward to Hand, who dribbles a little before sending in an open shot past Hawks goalie Christen Piersanti to put the Saints on the board.
Monmouth would add on one more goal by Hanna (`59) to walk away with the 9-1 win over the Saints.
Siena travels to Fairfield, Connecticut one week from today (October 27) at 3:30 p.m. and will return home Sunday October 29, 2017 as they host Bryant at 1 p.m. for senior day at Siena Turf Field in Loudonville, NY.
