The Siena women's field hockey held their pink game this afternoon at Siena Turf Field prior to their match against MAAC rival Rider University. The Saints played today in honor of their close family and friend who have been affected by cancer.
The Saints got off to a slow start today and early turnovers prevented Siena to advance the ball past midfield. Rider took advantage of the early Saints turnovers and scored twice in the first two minutes of the game. Kalyn O'Brien and Nicole Hareau each scored unassisted goals for the Broncs.
Minutes later, the Broncs scored again off a penalty corner. Alicia Govannicci took the direct pass from Alsina Clotet for the shot and the goal. Rider would score again before the half when Clotet finds Rachel Schwab off one of Rider's 17 corners on the day.
The Saints never gave up and continued to position themselves for some scoring opportunities. The Saints' hard work paid off in the final minutes of the game. Theresa Tremblay scored the lone goal for the Saints for her second of the season.
The Saints will continue to work hard in search for their first win of the season and prepare for their upcoming road trip to Robert Morris on October 27.
