Jen Cruz scored her third game-winning goal of the season with 10 minutes left in the first half as Columbia defeated Siena 3-0 in non-conference field hockey action Sunday afternoon in the Bronx. With the win the Lions are now 3-5 on the season, while Siena drops to 1-6.

Columbia attacked early, earning nine penalty corners in the first half. With 10 minutes to play in the period, Kate Mansur took a corner and Cruz tipped in the shot. Just three minutes later Diana Day scored her fourth goal of the season on a pass from Ramie Merrill. First-year player Liz Reeve rounded out the scoring with an unassisted goal at 60:20.

Siena buckled down in the second half and limited Columbia to just four penalty corners. Kristen Heyde totaled 13 saves in goal for the Saints, while Kristina Georoge finished with five for the Lions. Carly Demartis had three of Siena's nine shots and a defensive save.

Siena returns to NEC action on Friday afternoon in Loudonville as they host Quinnipiac at 4 p.m.
