LOUDONVILLE, N.Y.--With just 1:43 remaining in the second half, sophomore midfielder Emily Winslow blasted home the game winning goal off a penalty stroke, giving the Saints their first victory of the season, 2-1, over Robert Morris University Sunday afternoon on the campus of Siena College.

With the victory the Saints improve their record to 1-6, while the Colonials drop to 1-6 overall.

The first half of play was a defensive struggle, as both teams held each other in check for almost the entire session. With just over three minutes remaining in the half sophomore forward Traci Baldwin registered the first goal of the game for the Saints deflecting the ball past Colonial goalkeeper Kate Dunlap making the score 1-0. Teammate Tricia Eldred was credited with the assist when she drove the ball toward the cage from the top of the circle.

The Saints held off the Colonials for the rest of the half, entering halftime with a 1-0 lead.

Robert Morris retaliated eight minutes into the second half as sophomore midfielder Megan Kelley back-handed one home off a assist from Gwen Dalphon tying the score 1-1.

The rest of the half was well played by both defenses. The Saints had numerous opportunities to score throughout the half, taking nine shots, but Dunlap held her ground. The Siena defense was equally impressive, allowing Robert Morris only four shots in the entire half.

Freshman goalie Jennifer Tesak made two crucial saves late in the game for the Saints when the Colonial offense attempted to seize the victory. It was Winslow though, who iced the game for the Saints when she scored with just under two minutes left to play in the game.

Winslow was awarded a penalty stroke after a Robert Morris player was whistled for a foul in front of the cage.

As time expired the Colonials had a chance to tie the game off of two consecutive penalty corners, but the Saints' defense stood tall, locking up the team's first win of the season.

The Saints next travel to Hamden, Conn. September 23 to face Qunnipiac. Game time is slated for 3:00 pm.
