LOUDONVILLE, NY-- Siena Field Hockey fell to Lehigh 4-1 in a nonconference matchup on Sunday afternoon. Sophomore goalie Mary Crumlish recorded eight saves and freshman defender Alex Worrallo tallied two defensive saves for the Saints.
Saints (0-8) kept the Mountain Hawks (2-6) scoreless up until the 22nd minute. Drew Pecora would cross in front as Teresa Carotenuto redirected the ball into the goal as Lehigh would take the lead 1-0.
Lehigh would score again at 27:46 as Pecora would tap in a rebound to make it a 2-0 game. Continuing into the second half Isabel McKeown would score for the Mountain Hawks at 38:03 extending their lead to 3-0.
Saints remained scoreless until 38:21 when freshman forward Margaret Conway would send a long pass in towards the goal that would sneak by Lehigh goalie Paige Innarella. However, junior forward Fariyah Omarshah would be the one to put the ball in the box to put Siena on the board.
Lehigh would score again making it 4-1 in the final seventh minute and the Saints would be unable to take another shot as time ran out.
Siena will get a week-long break before traveling to Lowell, Massachusetts where they will be taking on UMass Lowell at 1 p.m.
