LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Siena Field Hockey scored twice in the second half but was unable to come out with a victory as St. Francis (PA) took a 5-2 non-conference win.
Brea Seabrook recorded two goals, while three other Red Flash picked up a goal for St. Francis (PA) (3-2). Elizabeth Dyer recorded eight saves, while Claudia Marzec tallied one.
St. Francis (PA) struck first in the 19’ when they took their third corner of the game. Siena was able to stop the original shot, but Marielle Cavallaro picked up the rebound and put it in the cage for the quick 1-0 lead. At the end of the half, the score would still be in favor of the Red Flash 1-0.
St. Francis (PA) went up 2-0 quickly off another corner in the 38’ with a stick stop shot. The Red Flash would record a third goal before the Saints tallied one of their own. In the 45’ St. John picked up the ball after four consecutive shots and was finally able to put the ball in the cage to put the Saints down 3-1.
Siena would get one more goal in the 68’ from Miller on the corner assist from Fariyah Omarshah, but it wouldn’t be enough as the Red Flash would tally two goals in the 57th and 59th minute. St. Francis (PA) would take the victory 5-2.
Siena continues a two-game homestand as they host Lock Haven on Sunday, Sept. 10 at 12 p.m.
