2011: Inducted into the International Honor Society for AACSB Accredited Schools...Named to the Division I National Academic Squad...Selected to the NEC Fall Academic Honor Roll and the Commissioner's Honor Roll...Played in all 18 games while recording 13 starts...Second on the team in shots on goal recording 11 out of her 14 shots taken...Picked up an assist at home against Davidson (9/18).

2010: An NEC Fall Academic Honor Roll selection for the second consecutive year, and a SGI/NFHCA Collegiate National Academic Team honoree...Appeared in all 18 games, with 17 starts...Led Siena in points...Scored goals in back-to-back NEC games against Robert Morris (10/15) and Saint Francis (10/17)...Also had an assist.

2009: NEC Fall Academic Honor Roll honoree...Appeared in 17 games, making three starts. Recorded first career point, notching an assist on Saints' first goal of the year vs. Bucknell (8/30)...Added three shots, two of which were on goal.

BEFORE SIENA: Earned four letters in field hockey (midfield/forward) and three in basketball (point guard) at Red Hook High...First Team Poughkeepsie Journal All-Star and First Team MHAL...Member of Section IX Championship team...Breakout Player of the Year and Coaches Award recipient...Named an NYS Scholar Athlete...Member of the Capital Region Futures team.

PERSONAL: Born May 6, 1991 in Poughkeepsie, N.Y....The daughter of David and Kim Whelly...Has an older sister, Ariana, who attends the University of Delaware and a younger brother, Nicholas...Enjoys listening to music, hanging out with friends and traveling...A business major...Chose Siena for the academic program, friendly atmosphere and the field hockey program...Also recruited to play field hockey by Oneonta, Merrimack and Assumption.

WHY I CHOSE SIENA: "For me, there was every reason to choose Siena field hockey. My official visit was a great experience from start to finish. I felt welcomed by the team, coaches, and Siena community. At the culmination of my visit, I knew that this was the team and college experience I wanted to be part of."

ZAPPONE ON WHELLY: "She has great leadership skills and she is somebody a lot of people on the team turn to. That translates on to the field. She really helps to command where people are and where people are going."
