Kayla May was hired as the lead field hockey assistant on August 13, 2012 and enters her third season with the program.

"I am very excited to have Kayla join our staff," head coach Kara Zappone said upon her hiring. "Her playing experience at Louisville has provided her with the knowledge and love of the game that will help us progress forward this season. Kayla's background of field hockey, academics, and strength and conditioning will help to bring Siena Field Hockey to the next level."

May played in 67 games at Louisville, starting 38 times her last two seasons. She amassed 21 goals, 49 points and topped the team with three game-winners as a senior in 2009. The Cardinals won the Big East regular season championship in 2006, 2007 and 2008, and advanced all the way to the NCAA Sweet 16 when May was a junior in 2008.

Off the field, May excelled in the classroom. She was named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll and Dean's List all four years, and achieved recognition as a Black and Red scholar as an upperclassmen. May was a member of the National Field Hockey Coaches Association National Academic Squad three times as an undergraduate.

May studied physical education at Louisville and has worked in the strength and conditioning department at UAlbany since 2011.

May was the 2006 Johnstown High School Female Athlete of the Year, and the 2006 Fulton County Athlete of the Year after earning All-New York State honors as a senior. She scored 65 goals in her career with the Lady Bills, was a three-time Empire State games participant, and also lettered in track and basketball..
