Saints Run Past Rams for First Win
Siena's offense is alive and well. For a second straight game the Saints eclipsed 70 points and this time it was enough for a 73-65 victory over Rhode Island Saturday afternoon at UHY Court at the ARC. Cristina Centeno led four Siena players in double figures with 18 points.
Siena (1-1) earned its first-ever win in five meetings over Rhode Island (1-1) with a 73-65 triumph over the Rams last Nov. 19 at the ARC. The loss began a 27-game losing streak for Rhode Island, which ended its skid Tuesday with a 65-50 win over in-state rival Bryant.
Siena meanwhile is looking to rebound following a 75-50 loss at Big East foe Pitt Tuesday. Lily Grenci led the Saints with 14 points and 11 rebounds in posting her second straight double-double to begin the season.
The Saints will see a familiar face on the opposing bench today in former head coach Gina Castelli. Rhode Island's Director of Player Development, Castelli served as Siena's head coach for the previous 22 seasons.
Coverage begins at 4:30 p.m. today with the radio pregame show on WVCR 88.3 FM "The Saint." Fans can also tune into the call of the game free online at SienaAllAccess.com.
