UNIVERSITY PARK, PA - Siena tips-off their 2017-18 season by traveling to Big Ten contender Penn State at 7 p.m. at the Bryce Jordan Center. The Saints and Nittany Lions meet for just the second time in program history, with Penn State taking the sole victory over Siena.

Tipping off the program’s 44th varsity season tonight, the Saints are looking to build off a strong finish to the 2016-17 campaign in which they won 11 of their final 15 games to tally a 14-16 overall record while placing tied for third in the MAAC with a 13-7 league mark. The 13 MAAC victories equaled the program’s most conference triumphs in 14 years.
Kollyns Scarbrough, the Saints leading returning scorer from the 2016-17 season was named to the MAAC Preseason First Team for the second year in a row. The Jamaica, New York standout ranked eighth in the MAAC in field goal percentage (.465) and 10th in both scoring (13.6) and steals (1.5) last season while also pacing the Saints with 6.3 rebounds per game. Scarbrough enters her senior season having scored 1,020 career points, after becoming the 28th member of the program’s 1,000 Point Club in last year’s regular season finale vs. Iona.
Siena and Penn State only faced each other in the 2002-03 Preseason WNIT game where No. 14/14 Penn State came away with a 90-61 victory.
The Lady Lions are coming off a 2016-17 season where they finished 21-11 with a postseason appearance for the first time in three years. Penn State lost four seniors and will look to a squad with no seniors on the roster while also starting the season without WBCA All-American Teniya Page.
