Fans Get First Glance at 2009-10 Saints at First Niagara Sneak Preview Tomorrow
Free Reception Offers First Chance for Fans and Season Ticket Holders to Meet 2009-10 Basketball Teams
The Capital Region will have its first chance to meet the student-athletes and coaches from both the Siena men's and women's programs at the annual First Niagara Sneak Preview to be held Wednesday, September 23 from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. at the Times Union Center.
Head coaches Fran McCaffery and Gina Castelli will be on hand to discuss the upcoming season, and student-athletes from the men's and women's teams will be in attendance to mingle with fans.
The evening will feature entertainment and complimentary food and beverages. The event is open to the public and held inside the Times Union Center. Season ticket information will be available, with representatives on hand to discuss seating options. Fans may enter through the Pearl Street entrance.
The Siena men's team returns four of five starters from last year's squad which won a second consecutive MAAC Championship and First Round NCAA Tournament game. The Saints finished the year ranked 28th in the final USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll and are receiving strong recognition in the majority of early Preseason Top-25 polls for the upcoming year.
Castelli enters her benchmark 20th season as the head women's basketball coach at Siena. She has led the Saints to seven MAAC regular-season titles during her tenure and to the 2001 NCAA Tournament and the 1999, 2002 and 2003 WNIT. The Saints have four starters back from last year's team which tied for sixth in the MAAC.
