Complete 2012-13 Women's Basketball Schedule
LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - The complete 2012-13 Siena Women's Basketball schedule was unveiled Tuesday afternoon following the release of the 18-game MAAC slate. The Saints will play a total of 29 regular season games this winter which includes 14 home dates.
"Everyone on our schedule this season is a quality opponent," said head coach Ali Jaques. "Being in such a well coached and deep conference will bring challenges every night we step on the court."
The Saints tip-off the Jaques era on Friday, Nov. 9 at 5 p.m. vs. Fairleigh Dickinson as the front-end of a doubleheader with the men's team at the Times Union Center.
Siena will play twice more in downtown Albany this season in doubleheaders with the men. The Saints face crosstown rival UAlbany Saturday, Dec. 1 at 5 p.m. and their lone conference game at the Times Union Center will be Sunday, Jan. 13 vs. Manhattan.
Those games mark three of 10 home dates in which the Saints will play on either a Friday, Saturday or Sunday in a fan-friendly schedule.
Conference action and 2013 tip with the Saints' annual Western New York swing to Canisius (Jan. 4) and Niagara (Jan. 6). Those games conclude a season long four-game road trip for the Saints which begins at UMass (Dec. 28) and Sacred Heart (Dec. 30).
The MAAC home opener will be Thursday, Jan. 10 when the Saints welcome Fairfield to the Alumni Recreation Center. Eleven of Siena's 14 home games will be played on campus this season.
Siena will once again make a national broadcast appearance as part of the MAAC's TV package. The Saints travel to Jersey City to square off with Saint Peter's on Jan. 17 in a game that will be broadcast on ESPN3.
The Saints close out the regular season with five of their final seven games at home. Included in that stretch is a season long four-game homestand which features dates against Marist (Feb. 10), Rider (Feb. 15), Niagara (Feb. 17) and Saint Peter's (Feb. 22). Regular season action concludes with Senior Day vs. Canisius on Mar. 1.
For the second straight year the MAAC Championships will be held at the MassMutual Center in Springfield, Mass. from Mar. 7-11. The semifinals game Mar. 9 (ESPN3) and championship game Mar. 11 (ESPNU) will both be televised.
The non-conference schedule was released last month and features home games with Fairleigh Dickinson, North Carolina A&T (Nov. 20), UAlbany, Maine (Dec. 5) and Dayton (Dec. 22).
