Candela Hermida Added to Women's Basketball Roster

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Siena Women's Basketball Head Coach Ali Jaques has announced the signing of Candela Hermida. The 5'8" guard from Spain is the fourth addition to the Saints' roster, joining Marilena Gerostergiou, DeAnna Winston and Hayley Winter.

"We are excited to add Candela to our backcourt," noted Jaques. "She's a wing with the capability of knocking it down from beyond the arc. She brings a lot of energy and a positive attitude to our locker room and we are happy to have her!"

Hermida played for RC Celta Zorka in the Squad Champions League. This past season, she played in all 26 games for her team, while playing in 24 games during the 2015-16 season. Hermida has played eight season for the CR. She began her debut in the juvenile category playing for Celta Bosco. She made her Women's League 2 debut in October 2014. In the last three seasons, Hermida has played for the top team in the Women's League 2.

She joins a Siena Women's Basketball program which posted a 14-16 overall record last season and tied for third in the MAAC with a 13-7 league mark. The Saints ended the season by winning 12 of their final 18 games, and the team's 13 MAAC victories were tied for the program's most conference triumphs in 14 years.
