LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - The Siena women's basketball program, coming off back-to-back postseason appearances, announced its non-conference schedule today. The slate, one of the toughest in school history, includes five games against teams that made the postseason in the 2001-2002 season. Syracuse, Boston College and Florida International all qualified for the NCAA Tournament while St. Joseph's and Holy Cross played in the postseason WNIT.

Siena will open its schedule with a highly-anticipated home matchup on November 15th against Syracuse in the first round of the Preseason Women's National Invitation Tournament. Should Siena emerge victorious, the Saints would then meet either Penn State or Bucknell, both 2002 NCAA Tournament participants, in the second round of the 16-team tournament.

The Saints will face Albany on the 22nd of November, as the Green and Gold defend the Albany Cup they captured in 2001. Siena then moves on to a pair of games against regional powers. Siena visits Boston College on the 24th, unless the Saints are in the WNIT final at which point, the Boston College game will be moved to December 3rd. After opening MAAC play in early December, the Saints will look to avenge last year's loss to Holy Cross on December 10th in Siena's final non-conference home game.

Over the Christmas break, Siena will hit the road to play in the St. Joseph's Tournament. St. Joe's ended Siena's season last year in the postseason WNIT. Hartford, UMBC and St. Joseph's round out the field in the four-team, two-day tournament. From Philadelphia, the Saints will fly south to spend New Year's in Miami with a New Year's Day matchup against Florida International.

"We feel like the non-conference schedule is one of the toughest we've ever had. By playing tough competition, we feel like it will strengthen our team for conference play as we look to return to the NCAA Tournament," said head coach Gina Castelli.
