Siena College women's basketball Head Coach Gina Castelli completed her coaching staff today, announcing the hiring of Angel Elderkin. Elderkin fills the position left vacant by Quentin Hillsman, who accepted a job on the staff at American University earlier this month.
"We are very pleased to welcome Angel to the Siena family," said Casetlli. "It is a position that I expect a lot from, and everyone on the staff agreed that Angel's background and enthusiasm made her the perfect fit."
Elderkin makes the move to Loudonville from East Tennessee State, where she spent the last two seasons as a special assistant to the head coach for the Bucs. While at East Tennessee, Elderkin received her master's degree in physical education and exercise science.
Elderkin completed her undergraduate study at the University of Southern Maine, where she was a four-year starter for the women's basketball team. The Huskies made four NCAA Tournament appearances and won three conference titles, boasting a 104-15 overall record during Elderkin's stay.
Elderkin joins a Siena program that won its first-ever MAAC Championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament in Nashville, Tenn. last March.
