LOUDONVILLE, NY - Three Siena Women’s Basketball student athletes have announced their intentions to depart from the College. Hayley Winter and Anna Lundquist plan to return to their native Australia and Sweden, respectively, to continue their education, while Candela Hermida has announced her intention to transfer following the conclusion of the spring semester.
“While I am disappointed with these departures, I fully support Hayley, Anna, and Candela pursuing their academic and athletic interests closer to home or at a US school that fits their goals better,” stated head coach Ali Jaques. “They will always be members of the Siena Family, and I wish them the best.”
Winter was a transfer from Mineral Area College and played in 24 games last season for the Saints. She contributed to the Saints backcourt dishing out 14 assists while adding 15 points.
Lundquist completed her sophomore season in the Green and Gold adding 158 points. Her 31 steals were the fifth most on the team and the most of any non-starter. She also knocked down a team-high 34 treys.
Hermida finished her freshman season playing in eight games. She tallied eight points in the third quarter coming off the bench at Niagara.
Winter, Lundquist and Hermida are all currently in good academic standing at Siena College.
