Red Foxes Race Past Saints
Marist scored the first 17 points and never looked back as the eight-time defending MAAC Champion Red Foxes doubled up the Saints 78-39 at the ARC. Junior captain Tehresa Coles paced the Saints with 12 points, seven rebounds and three steals.
Siena is 15-7 all-time in quarterfinals action and looks to advance to the semifinals for a fourth straight season and 17th time in the program's 25 seasons in the MAAC. For Siena to accomplish that feat would take a similar performance to the one the Saints posted yesterday.
Marist (24-6) recently wrapped up a share of its 11th straight MAAC Regular Season Championship. The eight-time defending tournament champions have won 23 straight MAAC Tournament games including 13 straight by double figures.
Moreover, Marist has won the past 21 meetings with Siena, 20 of which have been by double figures. The Saints last beat Marist on Dec. 3, 2004 in Poughkeepsie.
The winner of tonight's contest advances to the MAAC Semifinals against either third-seeded Fairfield or No. 6 seed Rider Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
