BRIDGEPORT, CONN. - March basketball is all about survival. If Siena is to keep its season going, its going to need to pull off an upset to do so. The fourth seeded Saints battle top seed and national power Marist at 11:30 a.m. today at Webster Bank Arena at Harbor Yard in the semifinals of the 2011 Spark Energy MAAC Basketball Championships and you can follow all the action through Gameday Central beginning at 11 a.m.
Siena (14-15) advanced to the semifinals for the first time since 2007, rallying from 11 points down Friday to eliminate tournament host Fairfield, 36-33. Meanwhile Marist (28-2) had little trouble putting away No. 8 seed Saint Peter's, 61-33.
The Red Foxes, which are ranked 18th nationally in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll and 21st in the AP Poll, hold the nation's longest active winning streak at 24 games. Siena has never defeated a nationally ranked team, going 0-13 all-time, and has lost 14 in a row to Marist.
