Siena has faced Marist four times in the MAAC Tournament with the Red Foxes holding a 3-1 record. The two teams have not met in the tournament since March 7, 2014 with #2 Marist defeated #10 Siena 87-65 at the MassMutual Center in Springfield, Massachusetts. Siena beat the Red Foxes at the Sovereign Bank Arena in Trenton, New Jersey on March 7 in the quarterfinal matchup 79-62. The two teams have never met in the MAAC Tournament when it was played at the Times Union Center.

Marist holds a 35-32 series advantage over Siena. In the last six meetings, the two teams have won three a piece. The Saints and Red Foxes split the games this season with each winning on their respective home courts. The Saints victory this season came at the Times Union Center 58-53.

In the first meeting between the league rivals, Siena forced Marist to 21 turnovers, their second most of the season, as the Saints came away with a 58-53 victory. Sabrina Piper led the Saints with 14 points off the bench as she went 3-4 from behind the arc. Kollyns Scarbrough had notched her sixth double-double of the season with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Rebekah Hand led Marist with 17 points and eight rebounds, while freshman Willow Duffell was one rebound shy of a double-double as she recorded 13 points. On their home court, Marist took a 73-54 victory over Siena which helped extend the Red Foxes win streak to six games. Joella Gibson led Siena with 16 points, while Hand for Marist finished with 20 points and 10 rebounds.

Siena enters the contest on a three-game winning streak having concluded the regular season with a 68-59 win over Canisius and 70-36 victory over Saint Peter’s at the Alumni Recreation Center and most recently having defeated Niagara in the MAAC Quarterfinals 71-60. The 36 points scored by the Peacocks was the least points scored in the Ali Jaques era and least since the Saints defeated Manhattan 34-33 in the MAAC Tournament on March 3, 2012. The Saints 34-point victory over Saint Peter’s, in the regular season finale, was the largest margin of victory since defeating Niagara 77-37 on January 14, 2011. In four of Siena’s last seven games, the Saints have held opponents to 55 points or less. The Saints are averaging 61.6 points per game while holding opponents to 61.1 points, which is the first time since 2014-15 the Saints are averaging more points than their opponents. Before 2014-15, the last time was 2003-04 when Siena averaged 62.7 points and opponents averaged 58.3.

Marist enters having defeated 7-seeded Manhattan in the Quarterfinal game. Forward Maura Fitzpatrick was voted MAAC Defensive Player of the Year. She leads the Red Foxes with 36 steals and 11 blocks.

The winner of this game will take on the winner of #1 Quinnipiac/#5 Rider in the Championship game on Monday, March 5 at 2:30 p.m.
