Loudonville, N.Y. - Siena women's basketball junior guard Shondaya Burrell was named MAAC Co-Player of the Week this afternoon for the final week of the regular season. Burrell shares the award with Manhattan's Caitlin Flood. This marks the second time this year that Burrell has secured Player of the Week honors.

Burrell scored a career-high 31 points on 9-17 shooting in the Saints thrilling 84-81 overtime victory at Rider on Friday. She made clutch free throws at the end of regulation and in overtime, making 13 of her 15 attempts (86.6%) overall.

Burrell also stepped up when it mattered most as she tallied 15 of her 31 points in the final five minutes of regulation and overtime. In addition, she added seven assists, four rebounds and a pair of blocked shots to her tremendous performance.

The native of Albany, N.Y. also won the Player of the Week award on Jan. 7 following a near triple-double performance when she tallied 25 points, 10 rebounds and a career-high eight assists in Siena's 78-65 win over Canisius the day before.

It also marks the second time Burrell has garnered MAAC Player of the Week honors during the final week of the regular season. Last year she also took home the award during the final week of February after averaging 21.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per game in a pair of Siena wins to close out the 2007 regular season against Niagara and Manhattan.

Earlier in the day, Burrell also added more hardware from the league as she was tabbed an All-MAAC Third Team selection. She was the only player in the league during the regular season to rank in the top-12 in the MAAC in scoring (14.1-eighth), rebounding (6.1-twelfth) and assists (3.5-sixth).

Burrell and the Saints return to the hardwood on Friday for a date in the 2008 Citizens Bank MAAC Tournament Quarterfinals against third-seeded Fairfield. Tip time is set for 11:30 a.m. from Times Union Center in Burrell's native Albany.
