Women's All-MAAC Rookie Team
Ryan Rossiter and Serena Moore were selected to the MAAC First Team today. The announcement was made during a 12 p.m. teleconference held by the MAAC communications office, and the voting was done by the MAAC head coaches. Both Rossiter and Moore are now eligible to be named MAAC Player of the Year. That announcement will be made at the annual Awards Reception Thursday at 5 p.m. at the Arena at Harbor Yard.
Cristina Centeno was selected to the women's Third Team.
Siena freshman guard Rakeem Brookins was left off the five-member MAAC Rookie Team.
Rossiter has enjoyed one of the great individual seasons in MAAC history. He leads the MAAC in scoring (19.1 ppg) and rebounding (13.4 rpg), and is looking to become the first player to do that since LaSalle's Lionel Simmons (1989-90). Siena's all-time leading rebounder (1,131), ranks second nationally in rebounding and double-doubles (24) this season. He is third all-time on the MAAC's single-season (388) and career rebounding charts, and could move into second on the career list and first on the single-season list this weekend. Rossiter also stands just three points shy of cracking Siena's top-10 scorers with 1,429 career points, and he ranks third with 162 blocks. Rossiter was named to the MAAC First Team in 2010 and was the Preseason Player of the Year this season.
