Siena held the MAAC's top offensive team scoreless for nearly 10 minutes and cruised to a 70-54 victory over Iona in the Gold Rush Game Thursday night at the ARC. The Saints led by as much as 20 and by double figures for the entire second half in winning their third straight home game.

Siena (11-15, 7-8) won the first meeting between the schools in convincing fashion, 70-54 on Jan. 31 in Loudonville. But Iona (15-11, 10-5) has won five of six since then to all but secure a top-5 seed - and potentially as high as the No. 2 seed - in next month's MAAC Championships.

The Saints meanwhile enter the day tied for sixth in the MAAC Standings with Canisius with three games remaining. Siena is also just a game back of both Niagara and Rider which are tied for fourth.

Siena is 37-17 all-time against Iona, but has not swept the season series from the Gaels since the 2002-03 season. Iona has won six of the last seven matchups here in New Rochelle.

The contest also matches up the conference top two scorers and MAAC Player of the Year Candidates Lily Grenci and Damika Martinez. Martinez, who led the league in scoring as a freshman, again paces the MAAC at 17.9 per contest. Grenci meanwhile averages 15.5 per game and needs just 16 more points to become the 25th player in program history to eclipse 1,000 career points.

Gameday Central coverage begins with the radio pregame show with Mike Demos and Steve Amedio at 1:30 p.m. locally on WVCR 88.3 FM "The Saint" and online at SienaAllAccess.com.

Fans can also watch the game through Iona's All-Access platform or listen to the game free online at SienaAllAccess.com.
